Receiving

The process of checking in stock against a purchase order when it arrives and updating inventory.

Receiving is the moment incoming stock becomes sellable inventory: you verify what arrived against the PO, catch shortages or damage, capture lot and expiry data, and update counts. Sloppy receiving is where inventory accuracy goes to die.

Skuwell guides receiving against the originating PO -- scan to confirm quantities, flag discrepancies, capture lot data, and route stock to putaway -- so the ledger reflects reality the moment the pallet hits the dock.
