Recording which production batch (lot) each unit of stock belongs to, for traceability and expiry management.
Lot tracking ties every unit you receive and ship to the batch it came from. It's essential for products with expiry dates or recall risk -- food, cosmetics, supplements, regulated goods -- because it lets you answer 'which customers got units from lot 4471?' in seconds instead of days.
